A South African Retirement Visa can be issued to a foreign national of any age who is looking to either retire permanently in South African or on a seasonal basis. It is valid for up to four years and is considered a temporary residency category of visa. It can also be an ideal option for business persons not wanting to work in South Africa, but wanting to live in the country for part of the year. It is a multiple entry visa, and is extendable.
There is no age limit to be able to apply for the Retirement Visa.
Applicants must have an income or pension of at least R37, 000 per month to qualify. Both capital and income can be used in calculating the required income per month.
Applicants must be aware that only certain types of income can be used for the purposes of qualifying for a Retirement Visa. The value of pensions and rental income from property are sources of income that can be used.
